Tell us a little bit about you outside of being an author. I’m an optimistic person. I like having a good time. I enjoy reading, writing, cooking and spending time with loved ones.

Tell us a little bit about your work in progress and/or your upcoming release. Cheating On My Mistress is based on the life of an ex-NBA player named Carmelo Miller. He is a handsome brother that has it all, but having it all is not enough. Therefore, he steps outside of his marriage to fill a void that is not being satisfied at home.

How many years of professional writing experience do you have? What have you written? Cheating On My Mistress is my debut novel to the world.

Do you have an occupation in addition to being a writer? I am currently pursuing my doctorate in education specializing in higher education and adult learning.

What credentials establish you as an expert in your field or have contributed to your success as an author? My main qualification is life in general. I also have a BA in Psychology from Grambling State University and a MA in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University.

About the Book

What was your motivation for writing this book? My motivation for writing Cheating On My Mistress is basically achieving a goal that allows the world to read my work.

Tell us some of the factors that make your book unique. It is unique because it is fast paced and doesn’t sugar coat the life of a mistress or a cheater.

What is the single most important thing that readers of your book will be able to do after reading your book that they could not do before? Readers will be able to recognize game.

What emotions does your book evoke from readers? My novel is an emotional roller coaster.

In researching your book, did you come across any surprising facts, figures or statistics? I found that the divorce rate has dropped due to the recession.

If your book were for sale in a major bookstore, in what section would it be found? Urban, fiction, African American fiction

What did you learn while writing this book? I learned it is important to research your topic so you will know what you are talking about.

What one thing about writing do you wish other non-writers would understand? I wish that non-writers would learn that you can’t write a book over night.

What are three things you wish you’d known before you reached where you are now? I wish I would have known more about finding a qualified editor, more about promotions, and more about networking.

How and why does your book differ from books of a similar topic? My novel tells it like it is.

What would you like your readers to take away from your book? I want readers to know that you must always hold yourself accountable for your actions because what is done in the dark will eventually come to light. If you could change one thing you did during your road to publication, what would it be and what would you have done different? I would leave everything the same.

What advice would you give an aspiring author? My advice would be to have thick skin because everyone will not like your work. Also, follow your dreams because sometimes you only have one shot at it.
